Dave is passionate about helping aspiring goalkeepers of all ages and abilities to reach their full potential.
Dave is a highly qualified coach with FFA Advanced Level 2 Goalkeeping licence. Dave started his career as an apprentice goalkeeper for Blackburn Rovers from 1983. He then went on to play semi-professional football for 16 years before relocating to Perth where he has been coaching goalkeepers since 2002.
PHILOSOPHY
Until recently, goalkeepers have typically been trained with the outfield players and not received specialised goalkeeping training. As a former goalkeeper, I recognize that goalkeeping requires very different skills to that of outfield players and have dedicated the past 15-20 years coaching goalkeepers (both part time and full time) and developing a process and methodology for developing high quality goalkeepers based on their age and skills level.
My process and methodology lean heavily towards game realistic training sessions being created in the coaching environment as opposed to isolated practices. This practice encourages the goalkeepers to be constantly making decisions and is easily transferred into the games.
